According to the NY Times, Abbott Laboratories has removed Meridia from the market under pressure from the FDA! We can now add this dangerous weight loss drug to the long list that dates back to the 19th century, including: thyroid extract, dinitrophenol, amphetamines, digitalis, phenylpropanolamine, fen/phen, dexfenfluramine and orlistat (which is still on the market, I believe as Alli). Perhaps they’ll ban weight loss surgery next? A girl can dream.
