I think we all have this image of an ideal holiday. We picture spending time with our favorite relatives and friends, enjoying delicious food, decorating our homes, and in general, feeling that feeling of connection and understanding with those we love.

But so often, the holidays don’t really look like that. Perhaps you have an endless to do list of shopping and preparation that can’t possibly be met. Perhaps certain family members can’t make it or have passed on and you really miss them.

Food is another huge stressor during the holidays. Perhaps you’ve been dieting or restricting your gluten or sugar intake and you’re worried about bingeing out on cookies. Or maybe you have family members who scrutinize your weight or your food choices, and you’re worried that your relatives are going to say judgmental things about it.

The thing about the holidays is that they’re just a hyper-amplified expression of what you’re dealing with much of the time. Even if you only see your Aunt Edna, who always comments on your weight, once a year, you still walk around with that Aunt Edna voice inside your head, right? You still criticize yourself for not being the size you want to be, and not eating “perfectly” (whatever that might mean). You still beat yourself up emotionally for not meeting a standard, even if that standard gets raised during the holidays.

Q: Where does this course take place?
Wherever you are! You just need to be able to access your email. The Facebook group is fun but optional.

Q: Do I have to be in the U.S. to participate?
Not at all! But note that the emails and most of the conversations in the Facebook group will be in English.

Yes! This course can serve as a great intro to HAES®. Welcome!
