November Skin Tips

As I seem to mention a lot in these posts, I’m kind of weird.  I love cold weather (I find it invigorating and energizing) and my skin doesn’t get very dried out.

But, I realize that I’m in the minority there.  And as the weather turns colder, many of you probably experience a little more fatigue, and some seriously dry skin.  And maybe just a little stress about the impending holidays?

So let’s talk tips for keeping your skin (and yourself) happy as the temperature drops.

1) Not So Hot — Although it’s tempting to use really hot water in the shower, it’s not so great for your skin.  Using lukewarm water will allow your skin to retain more moisture and get less dry.
2) Get Your Rest — November is often a really busy time.  Students are gearing up for finals.  People in lots of professions are trying to finish things up before December holidays.  But if you’re one of those people who always seems to get sick January 1st, it’s important to start taking care of yourself now.  Schedule some relaxation, even if it’s just putting your feet up for 15 minutes and reading a book.
3) Notice Changes — I just switched to much more moisturizing facial cleanser and I’m so happy I did.  Although, I’m not sure if I made the switch because of the weather or because I’m getting older. :)

  1. Eucerin in all its varied forms is a lifesaver at my house. My skin is very dry and gets worse in cold weather. Eucerin products have often helped me prevent the usual psoriasis flares from getting out of control as well. Keep up the good work!

  2. I’m 55 and eucerin products are my new BFF. When I’m not going anywhere I “lotion up” everywhere. White cotton socks and eucerin on my feet great combo.

  3. As I get older, when colder drier weather starts creeping in I switch to a much richer moisturizing cream and try to get more sleep. Eucerin keeps my skin more moisturized and helps keep it from starting to sag.

  4. I use several types of Eucerin. The cream seems to be the longest lasting and the best. I even buy for my sister. She has phsoriasis really bad and the cream helps. I also use the lotions. I have the lotion strategically placed in my bedroom and bathroom. I like the original lotion and the smoothing essemtoals lotions. Eucerin helps keep the flaking of my skin to a minimum if none at all.

  5. I’m following on Twitter (I’m @wendybritt).

Anyway, I’ve never been good about taking care of my kin, and now at 45 do have some crows’ feet and small wrinkle lines around my mouth :( But I also started keeping small bottles of hand lotion in the car and remember to actually use it when I’m stuck at long lights! (This is an improvement over everything else I do). Dry elbows and hands are getting less dry, thanks to this. ;)

  6. I usually take hot baths but I’ve noticed since its gotten cooler that if my bath water is a little more tepid, when I get out and apply my lotion it tends to stay hydrated longer. Don’t know why but thats how it seems.

  7. To relieve the dry air in our home I boil water with spices in it such as cinnamon or pie spices. The moisture in the air helps relieve all the dry itching.

  8. HI GOLDA,

I WENT TO THE DOCTOR BECAUSE OF DRY RED SCALEY SKIN ON MY FACE. HE TOLD ME TO GET EUCERIN AND I CANT BEGIN TO TELL YOU THE DIFFERENCE IT HAS MADE IN JUST ONE WEEK. MY SKIN IS STARTING TO GLOW AGAIN AND THE DRYNESS IS DISAPPEARING. I AM DRINKING PLENTY OF WATER GET MY REST. BEFORE I GO TO BED AT NIGHT I WASH MY FACE AND PUT EUCERIN ON AND IT FEELS SO GOOD. I WILL BE 60 ON MY NEXT BIRTHDAY AND I WILL BE USING THIS FOREVER. IT HAS MADE ME LIKE MYSELF AGAIN AND I AM GETTING A LARGER BOTTLE SO I CAN START USING IT ON MY LEGS. WE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF OUR BODIES IT IS THE BODY THE LORD GAVE US.
