November Skin Tips

As I seem to mention a lot in these posts, I’m kind of weird.  I love cold weather (I find it invigorating and energizing) and my skin doesn’t get very dried out.

But, I realize that I’m in the minority there.  And as the weather turns colder, many of you probably experience a little more fatigue, and some seriously dry skin.  And maybe just a little stress about the impending holidays?

So let’s talk tips for keeping your skin (and yourself) happy as the temperature drops.

1) Not So Hot — Although it’s tempting to use really hot water in the shower, it’s not so great for your skin.  Using lukewarm water will allow your skin to retain more moisture and get less dry.
2) Get Your Rest — November is often a really busy time.  Students are gearing up for finals.  People in lots of professions are trying to finish things up before December holidays.  But if you’re one of those people who always seems to get sick January 1st, it’s important to start taking care of yourself now.  Schedule some relaxation, even if it’s just putting your feet up for 15 minutes and reading a book.
3) Notice Changes — I just switched to much more moisturizing facial cleanser and I’m so happy I did.  Although, I’m not sure if I made the switch because of the weather or because I’m getting older. :)

I have dry and sensitive skin which is hard to deal with, with just any moisturizer. This time of the year is always hard on my skin, but with exfoliating and using Eucerin always, my skin is soft and smooth. Thank you so much for providing it to us.

I would really like this free gift pack because especially in cold weather, my skin gets extremely dry! My feet crack to the point of hurting and my elbows are really dry and rough. I’ve heard Eucerin is great for this type of problem.

I use a cool mist humidifier 24/7 starting this time of year. Also I make sure to use Eucerin after every shower and in the morning to keep my skin soft and itch free.

I have terribly dry skin on my legs and it is so itchy! I would love to try some Eucerin and see if it is worth the cost!

We have a humidifier on our heating system and three fish tanks. All these help keep the moisture level up in our arid Colorado home. But my skin still tends to be dry, so I put rich lotion on fresh from the shower while my skin is damp so it absorbs better. I can use all the help I can get. Thank you!

Between my daughters excema and my terrible dry skin, Eucerin lotions have been a Godsend in my household! My only dilemma with this product is the price…I can only afford to buy when necessary, so I look forward to the opportunity to try other products.

I love using Eucerin products. I am in the chlorine pool almost everyday. My back and feet especially need major attention. The chlorine makes me itch really bad. So using the Eucerin tub of cream is a big help!! Thanks

I am starting to experience some dry skin this season, but I haven’t had to “transition”. I’ve been ready for this weather since it started to get warm earlier in the year. Fall and Winter just makes me plain old happy!! It would make me even happier to win this gift pack. Enjoy the cold!!

I try to be proactive by using chapstick and lotion daily, putting moisturizer on my face every day, and using hair products that add moisture.

I love Eucerin products!! I’ve been using the face lotion for a long long time now, and I still get told I look so much younger! :) I’ve tried other, more expensive, face creams, and done a half and half test. One side of my face I use my trusted Eucerin, and the other, I use the new product. After two weeks, I ask my husband (because I know I’m biased!) which side looks better, and he always picks the Eucerin side, too! Thanks for making such great products!! :)

I always apply my Eucerin Calming Lotion immediately after I get out of the shower at night. It absorbs quickly and I always love waking up to soft skin!

my daughter is starting to get very dry hands. maybe Eucerin will help?

Reply

Melanie Buckley November 16, 2011 at 10:55 am

It’s all about exfoliating first. I do it everyday in the winter months and then immediately apply Eucerin all over my body and face.

Reply

Melanie Buckley November 16, 2011 at 10:54 am

For me, ( and especially in the Winter months ) it’s all about exfoliating. I do it everyday and then immediately apply Eucerin lotion all over my body and face while still damp. It works wonders to my skin , locks in moisture and penetrates much better!

Eucerin in all its varied forms is a lifesaver at my house. My skin is very dry and gets worse in cold weather. Eucerin products have often helped me prevent the usual psoriasis flares from getting out of control as well. Keep up the good work!

I’m 55 and eucerin products are my new BFF. When I’m not going anywhere I “lotion up” everywhere. White cotton socks and eucerin on my feet great combo.

I love Eucerin! Great for my dry cracked skin in the winter months!

Reply

Julie La Morte November 16, 2011 at 9:50 am

As I get older, when colder drier weather starts creeping in I switch to a much richer moisturizing cream and try to get more sleep. Eucerin keeps my skin more moisturized and helps keep it from starting to sag.

Frances Monitzer November 16, 2011 at 9:50 am

I use several types of Eucerin. The cream seems to be the longest lasting and the best. I even buy for my sister. She has phsoriasis really bad and the cream helps. I also use the lotions. I have the lotion strategically placed in my bedroom and bathroom. I like the original lotion and the smoothing essemtoals lotions. Eucerin helps keep the flaking of my skin to a minimum if none at all.

I have not yet tried the Eucerin line. All the comments are so positive, I can’t wait to try it!

I’m following on Twitter (I’m @wendybritt).

Anyway, I’ve never been good about taking care of my kin, and now at 45 do have some crows’ feet and small wrinkle lines around my mouth :( But I also started keeping small bottles of hand lotion in the car and remember to actually use it when I’m stuck at long lights! (This is an improvement over everything else I do). Dry elbows and hands are getting less dry, thanks to this. ;)

I usually take hot baths but I’ve noticed since its gotten cooler that if my bath water is a little more tepid, when I get out and apply my lotion it tends to stay hydrated longer. Don’t know why but thats how it seems.

To relieve the dry air in our home I boil water with spices in it such as cinnamon or pie spices. The moisture in the air helps relieve all the dry itching.

Every winter I have to switch EVERYTHING. My skin gets horribly dry (I’m talking…my palms peel kind of dry…). I switch my lotions, my shampoo, my deoderant: literally, everything. I’m still looking for the best lotion for my hands and body, however I have found that for in between hand washings at work (medical student- I wash my hands a lot), neutrogena hand creme works wonderfully. As for my hair, I’ll be starting my weekly deep conditioning treatments in December to help stave off the itchy, peely, dry scalp. I’ve never tried Eucerin before, but if this stuff is good then maybe this year I won’t have to be quite so itchy!

Gina November 16, 2011 at 3:14 pm

@Jenna Stevanovic, Also try the Curel Anti Itch, it’s amazing. We use Eucerin as well but the Curel is the best. I also have to use some prescription products but since using the Curel I don’t need the steriods as much for my dry itch skin. GL

I’m actually fighting a new battle with dry skin on my legs, a situation that only began about 2 years ago. Though it’s getting better, it’s still ongoing. Probably a change from aging, but with Eucerin, there’s hope!

Hi Golda,

Part of the tentative steps I’m taking into body love and acceptance is looking again at ways to care for my skin, hair, nails, etc. that nurture them and make them feel good. I’ve been working on the “no-poo” method for my hair for 10 days now with some success, thanks to what I read here (or somewhere that you posted). I have noticed that being gentler with my hair is also showing results on my face – less redness, less oil production. I guess this makes sense, seeing as the face is somewhat connected to the scalp! (duh). Anyway, that’s my November skin tip… Keep up the good fun!

I get really terrible dry skin around my eyes. Eucerin cream is way better than traditional eye creams for keeping my skin protected. I use it all over my face.

I love Eucerin products! I just turned 50 a few days ago, and my skin looks fantastic…I’ve been using Eucerin products since before I turned 30, and 2 weeks ago, the staff at my doctor’s office thought I was 35…I’ll take that!

I have pale skin, which tends to being sensitive and dry…since discovering Eucerin though, you’d never know it. I’ve tried just about every product of theirs I’ve ever seen in a store, and my favorite remains the Original tub of cream, I use it everywhere! I keep a small tube in my purse and at work, and even keep a tube in my sewing box, as handling fabric can make your hands dry, and then fabric snags. It’s perfect. I also use the Intensive Repair, as my hands really take a beating.
